About Shanna, RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor in Coquitlam, BC

Shanna Hickey (she/her) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). She holds a post-Master’s Diploma in Couples and Family Therapy and a post-graduate certificate in Victimology, which equips her with specialized skills to provide victim-centered services for victims and survivors of crime. She works with children, youth, adults and couples.

As an ally, Shanna has had the opportunity to offer culturally safe, trauma-informed support to various populations, including new Canadians. In her practice, she strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, heal, and thrive. Shanna has extensive experience working closely with Indigenous communities facing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflict, marital issues, trauma, co-occurring mental health diagnoses, addiction, grief and loss, and child welfare concerns.

Using a variety of therapeutic modalities, Shanna’s approach is relational and co-created, centered on authenticity and purpose, guiding clients on their unique healing journeys. She places particular emphasis on Systemic Family Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Depending on your unique needs, she may also incorporate elements of attachment theory, play, and other healing modalities that resonate with your journey.

Having worked with adults, youth, and children, Shanna is dedicated to meeting you where you are and walking alongside you on your path to healing. She is deeply committed to supporting individuals and families through a decolonized, and anti-oppressive framework. Shanna offers services both virtually and in person.
