Emily Poirier, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Emily (she/her/hers) holds a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and is registered with the B.C Association of Clinical Counsellors. Emily started her counselling experience working in Community Mental Health supporting youth, young adults, and their families. She has since worked with a variety of populations supporting her clients to process and build coping skills in areas such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, personality disorders, family and relational conflict, and attachment ruptures.
Emily strives to meet clients where they are at and utilizes a collaborative approach. Emily incorporates a variety of counselling approaches such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Somatic Based Therapies, and elements of Internal Family Systems. Emily has completed the Y-Mind ACT training, EFFT level 1/2, and EFFT parent/caregiver workshop training. She is available to see clients who are 11 years old and up- including individuals, couples, and families.
Emily works to build an environment of safety and works from a trauma and attachment-informed lens. She believes that the alliance between a counsellor and client is one of the most important tools within the therapeutic process. She believes that through connection, support, and being seen we can grow and heal.
Outside of counselling you can find Emily spending time with her husband, playing soccer and softball, or working out. She loves to be outdoors and active. She also has a love for animals and has adopted and fostered cats!
